Nordjyllands Idrætshøjskole (NIH) was founded in 1986 and sits centrally in Brønderslev. The school offers more than 50 sports subjects with a focus on grassroots participation, and its facilities include three sports halls, football pitches, beach volleyball courts, a disc golf course, and a 1,000 m² fitness centre opened in 2022. There is also an adventure area with a 12-metre climbing tower and 125-metre zip lines. Under the name NIH Kultur og Musik, the sports hall regularly hosts concerts as well.
