This lecture explores two extremes: the world's smallest whale, the harbour porpoise, hunting in Danish waters, and the world's largest toothed whale, the sperm whale, revealed at depths of over 1,000 metres with the help of deep-sea cameras.

Along the way, we discover how a Greenland whale survives the cold while feeding on billions of tiny prey in Disko Bay, and how a humpback whale mother can nurse and feed her calf without eating for half a year.

The lecture concludes with the question of how we can achieve sustainable coexistence with these apex predators in a changing world.
