Library Club's Café Evening - Maria Hjort Kronholm: In the Power of Violence - From Jewellery Designer to Therapist and Author

Author and therapist Maria Hjort Kronholm shares her journey from jewellery designer and boutique owner to therapist and author - and how writing became her healing process almost without her realizing it.

Her dream boutique opened in September 2018, but turned into a nightmare when business consultant "Isack" walked through the door. The following year, Maria lived under the power of violence: unlawful confinement, severe assault, abuse and daily threats - offences he was later convicted of. When she escaped in 2019, she still carried part of him inside. The answer was to write it out, and the book "He Took My Life" was the result.

In 2021, she appeared in the TV2 documentary "Trapped in a Dangerous Relationship". In 2025, the follow-up "My Beautiful Life - Love, PTSD and Golden Hearts" was published, exploring reaction patterns and rebuilding oneself, and the same year Berlingske published her column with a political call for better support for women affected by violence after leaving crisis centres. Maria is also working on a crime series set on Røsnæs.
