Library Club Café Evening: Bjarne Rye Nielsen & Dorete Dandanell: The History of Summer Houses on Røsnæs
Kalundborg Bibliotek og Borgerservice, Kalundborg · 75–95 kr. · ≈ 10–13 €
This café evening focuses on the book "Summer Houses on Røsnæs: A Cultural History 1875-2025" - the first comprehensive work on the peninsula's summer house history. The lecture begins with the earliest boarding houses at Kysthospitalet and traces the development through to today's newly built and renovated summer houses.
A key point is that Røsnæs took a different path than North Zealand, Odsherred, and Skagen: it was public institutions and professional organizations - not artists or wealthy private individuals - that established the first summer houses here. The lecture spans the full range from architect-designed single-family homes and simple cottages to standardized summer houses and large modern villas.
Tickets cost 75 kr. for members of Biblioteksklubben and 95 kr. for others, and the price includes the lecture plus coffee, tea, and a small pastry. The event takes place in Det Grønne Rum. Registration and free membership in Biblioteksklubben at www.kalundborgbib.dk/klub
