Library Club Café Evening - Morten Hammeken: Hybrid Warfare and Disinformation Online

The digital battle is already underway. Social media, news sites and comment sections are increasingly being used as weapons in modern hybrid warfare, where disinformation and fake profiles shape opinions, democracy and trust.

Journalist and speaker Morten Hammeken demonstrates with concrete examples how Russian influence campaigns work in practice - how false narratives spread, how trolls and bots operate, and why ordinary people often become targets and sometimes unwilling participants. The lecture draws on the book Vatniksuppe by Finnish researcher Pekka Kallioniemi, which Hammeken himself translated into Danish. Using the book's analyses as a starting point, he focuses on the false narratives produced in Russia and the networks that spread them.

Participants will gain tools to recognize manipulation and navigate a digital landscape where the line between truth and falsehood is often blurred.
