Geology Tour

Meeting point: Metalskolen car park, Slagslundevej 13, 3550 Slangerup.

The tour starts in the protected area from Stenens knold and descends to Buresø. On this afternoon walk, you will see how the landscape looked after the last ice age. You will experience the results of the gigantic forces at work and the distinctive landscape they left behind.

From Buresø eastward, there is a series of tunnel valley lakes from this period extending all the way to Øresund. You will learn about Stenens knold (57 m above sea level) - a large glacial portal was located nearby. The tour continues along the path beside the lake on the Slangerup side through the protected area (established 1948), returning to Metalskolen through the undulating landscape via Jørlunde Overdrev. The tour is approximately 3 km long.

This is a family-friendly tour, but unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users or pushchairs. Geologist Bent K. Hansen leads the tour.
