"How wild, grand and ambitious can I make it?"

When Wagner set pen to manuscript paper in 1848, we cannot say if he formulated it precisely that way - but when "The Ring of the Nibelung" was completed 26 years later, the result was an opera cycle in four parts with monumental scenography and a total runtime of around 15 hours. No comparable music-dramatic work had been created before.

In October, Klub Klassisk focuses on "Siegfried" and "Götterdämmerung", which together make up the second half of Wagner's monumental work. Both operas are musically rich in themselves and simultaneously offer insight into the fascination with ancient myths and legends that shaped music, art and literature in the Romantic 19th century.

Randers Library's music educator Mik Stegger introduces Wagner and his music in a way that everyone can follow - the only requirement is curiosity about classical music and opera. The event takes place in the Cultural Centre hall, coffee is provided, and participation is free. Registration is required via the button on this page, and questions can be directed to Mik.
