Learn All About Riesling (February)
Winelab Academy, Aarhus · 495 kr. + gebyr · ≈ 66 €
Riesling is one of the great classics of white wine - and a grape with remarkable range. At this tasting, instructor Mads Jordansen guides you through the grape's terroir expression, styles, and sweetness levels.
You will learn about Riesling's origins and history, the classic wine regions, the grape's distinctive characteristics, the wines' many sweetness levels, serving and glass selection, and how to pair Riesling with food and find the right wine for the right occasion.
The Riesling grape first appeared on an invoice from the German Rhineland dated 13 March 1435. In the early 1900s, German Riesling was among the world's most expensive wines - more expensive than Bordeaux and Burgundy. Today it is the most planted variety in Germany, where around 40% of the world's Riesling plants are located.
The grape is sensitive to the conditions under which it is grown and clearly imprints local character on the wine. Therefore we taste it from several countries: you get 4 German Rieslings (from dry to sweet), 1 from Alsace, 1 Austrian, 1 Australian and 1 American - 8 wines in total.
