Percussion is the symphony orchestra's youngest member, yet humanity's oldest instrument. In this Sunday matinée, Jakob Weber traces the development of percussion with special focus on its role in the symphony and the many diverse challenges that come with being a Janitshar.

Weber also shares his own journey into the world of percussion and highlights from his career - including the art of counting rests and playing a rhythm into an organic melody.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions, including how "The Classical Music Quiz" comes about and what it means to be a Solo Janitshar.
