Ulrik Grubb - cand.mag. in history and social studies, author and editor, and co-author of the book 'Matador - and Our Own Time' - explores the historical layers of the DR series: how history is used in the series, what role it plays in the narrative, and how the series came about in the first place.

Along the way, video clips from the series are shown, allowing Mads Skjern, Ingeborg, Maude, the pig trader and the other characters to appear again - viewed through a historical lens.
