The Musical Andersen - A Musical Lecture on H.C. Andersen

H.C. Andersen (1805-1875) is known worldwide for his fairy tales, but he was also a novelist, playwright, poet, and travel writer - and behind the fairy tales lie sharp observations of the human condition.

Inger Nygaard Kaad from Randers Library traces the line from the poor boy in Odense to the internationally recognized author - a story of talent and perseverance throughout a lifetime.

Library musician Peter Elmelund supplements with guitar and group singing: the programme features both well-known and more overlooked songs with texts by Andersen, including a newly composed melody for one of his lesser-known poems.

The lecture takes place in the meeting room at Dronningborg Library.
