Kolding Light Festival
Kolding Light Festival takes place every year in the first weekend of December - the first edition was held in 2013. The festival uses light and sound to illuminate Kolding from new perspectives through light installations, video projections, interactive installations, and light art.
The event builds on "Kolding Lyser", which took place in 2011 and 2012, and is similar to light festivals in Berlin, Amsterdam, Lyon, and Eindhoven. The goal is to give public spaces new meaning and eventually leave permanent light installations throughout the Kolding area.
The festival is organized by Kolding Light Festival S/I, a non-profit, independent institution established by Erhvervsgruppen Kolding - a non-partisan association of local businesses and entrepreneurs founded in 2012. Until summer 2018, the festival was run as a private company, after which Erhvervsgruppen Kolding decided to transfer it to the city to broaden local ownership.
