Moomins and Tove Jansson

The Finland-Swedish author and illustrator Tove Jansson created nine novels, three picture books, and hundreds of newspaper strips and satirical drawings set in the Moomin universe - which later spawned TV series, films, and countless merchandise items found in kitchens around the world.

This lecture places the Moomin universe in the context in which Jansson drew and wrote it, while also exploring her work as a graphic artist and novelist for both adults and children.

The speaker is Maria Kangas Christensen, a former folk high school principal with a BA in Finnish and a master's degree in Rhetoric.
