Walks and Thinking Breaks - On Energy
Borup Bibliotek, Borup · Free
Traveture og Tænkepauser is a series of guided walks, each based on one of the short science communication books from Aarhus University Press's Tænkepauser series. This time it's "Energy" by historian Mogens Rüdiger from Aalborg University.
The book traces the history of energy from the first spark and fire through torches and light bulbs, larders and refrigerators, to wood stoves and radiators. Rüdiger shows how each energy revolution has transformed both physical and social life - and how our dependence on oil, coal and gas has burdened the planet. The book concludes by pointing toward a transition away from fossil fuels.
The walk is approximately 4 km and lasts about 2 hours, ending back at the library. The event takes place regardless of weather, so dress according to the forecast.
The book can be borrowed from the library or as an e-book and audiobook via the e-shelf.
