Copenhagen · 120 kr. · ≈ 16 €
On September 16, Vigdis Hjorth's new novel is released, and on the very day of publication she visits Copenhagen for a conversation about the book with author Martin Glaz Serup. Doors open at 18:00, and the conversation runs from 18:30 to 19:30.
"The Good Person in Sandvika" portrays people in the shadow of established society - specifically the clientele of a brown café in the suburb of Sandvika. Here life's dramas unfold: happiness and misery, love and loneliness, addiction and freedom.
The narrator sits every day with her beer and her dog, observing the other guests. She becomes particularly fascinated by the mysterious woman Ada and her fate - until one evening when something happens that turns everything upside down. The novel is described as both tragic and comic, and revolves around economics, gambling, beer, fate and class.
