Climate & Class: Who Pays the Price for the Green Transition?

Climate debates often focus on individual choices - electric or petrol cars, train or plane, plant-based or beef. But what if the climate crisis is equally about power, economics, and inequality?

Christoph Houman Ellersgaard, co-author of the book Climate & Class, presents the book's central arguments and discusses what they mean for the climate movement in Denmark. Drawing on research into inequality, elites, and power, he shows how the climate crisis is closely linked to social and economic divides, and why fair climate policy requires more than appeals to individual consumer habits. The book's argument is that the climate movement risks becoming a cultural conflict between population groups unless we simultaneously address the large differences in income, resources, and CO₂ emissions.
