Ulvsborg Historisk Værksted opens its gates for a weekend of raw realism when a group of Danish and international reenactors recreate the early Middle Ages.

The programme features training bouts with historical weapons, where the focus is on learning rather than victory. There are also demonstrations with sharp weapons against real materials - including meat - so you get a concrete impression of what weapons from that era could actually do.

Additionally, medieval artillery is shown in action: slings, bows and siege machines that illustrate how castles were attacked before the age of gunpowder. There are no foam swords or cotton wool here - it is the Middle Ages without embellishment.
