Many people living with an unfulfilled desire to have children know the well-meaning comments: "Just relax and it will happen," "It will happen one day," or "You can always adopt." The words are rarely meant with ill intent, but they can make it difficult to put into words the grief, frustration, and loneliness that can come with involuntary childlessness.

This evening we focus on the feelings, thoughts, and expectations tied to infertility - including the long wait and the uncertainty about when and how it will end. We talk about living a daily life where hope and disappointment often go hand in hand, and about finding yourself on a path to parenthood that looks different from what you had imagined.

Three guests share their personal experiences: Regina, Christina, and Neena have all felt firsthand what it means when the path to a child takes an unexpected turn, and they share openly about it on their respective Instagram profiles. Allan Johansson is also present and contributes the male perspective, which often receives less attention in conversations about fertility problems.

Taboo Thursdays is a series of events with open conversations about society's taboos. You are welcome to participate actively in the conversation or simply listen. The event takes place in Folkestuen at Aalborg Main Library.
