'The Librarians' - Film Screening

A shared screening of the 2025 documentary 'The Librarians', which explores current censorship in the United States. After the film, librarians from Varde Library will discuss the books featured in the film and place the censorship story in a Danish context.

The film is rooted in the Krause List from Texas in 2021 - a list of 850 titles about race and LGBTQIA+ that triggered a wave of book bans, which has since spread across the US. We follow librarians who refuse to back down, and who continue the fight for free access to knowledge despite harassment, threats, and targeted legislation. Along the way, the film uncovers the connections between local boards and the forces driving the censorship movement.

The film runs 92 minutes and will be shown in the Hall at Varde Library.
