The History of Vestegnen - From Agricultural Region to Welfare Suburb — Roskilde Bibliotek, Roskilde
Free entry

Vestegnen is perhaps the part of Denmark that most clearly reflects the political and cultural development of society throughout the 20th century - yet many misconceptions persist about the region.

Using the Fingerplan from 1947 as a starting point, historian and museum inspector Pauline Wedel Kaalund (Kroppedal Museum) traces Vestegnen's transformation from an agricultural area to the suburbs that emerged as the welfare state was built. The cities' architecture and design reflect the historical period in which they were created, shedding light on the region's past, present - and future.

This event is part of The Secret Society for History. The presentation lasts 25 minutes and is held via Teams, followed by discussion over coffee and cake. Location: Meeting Room GRØN. Book a ticket to participate.

The library is accessible by wheelchair, walker, and stroller. People with hearing impairments are welcome to bring their own assistive devices.
