Guided Tour with Curator in The Sound of

The museum's director and exhibition curator Christian Skovbjerg Jensen leads this special guided tour, exploring the concept and creation of the exhibition The Sound of in depth. Along the way, he stops at selected works and discusses the role of sound in contemporary art - an element that is becoming increasingly prominent.

Sound art emerged as a concept in the 1990s, but the term is now almost too narrow: sound rarely appears alone in art, but is woven together with image and space, opening up abstract and emotional layers of meaning at once. Sound has been central to the museum's DNA since its beginning - something the museum is today officially recognized for preserving and highlighting, alongside other ephemeral art forms such as video and performance.

The exhibition The Sound of presents works by a range of international and Danish artists, including Hajra Waheed, Hanne Lippard, Clara Mosconi, Julian Abraham 'Togar', Emeka Ogboh, Cally Spooner, Francesco Fonassis, Arendse Krabbe, and Annika Kahrs. It was created in collaboration with Moderna Museet Malmö and supported by, among others, the Danish Arts Foundation, the Augustinus Foundation, the Ny Carlsberg Foundation, and the Knud Højgaard Foundation.
