Bipolar Diagnosis and Its Impact on My Identity — Laden 603, Banegaarden, Copenhagen

Receiving a bipolar diagnosis is life-changing - not only for your life, but also for how you understand yourself. Who are you before and after? At this event, three people share their personal stories about how the diagnosis has shaped the way they see themselves.

Marie (39, bipolar type 2 since age 33) talks about grief as a constant companion throughout the diagnostic process - what it means and why it's there. Jørgen reflects on receiving a diagnosis at 62, in the context of a whole life, including experiences with hospitalization. Sanne (51, diagnosed in 2007, living with bipolar in remission today) discusses thoughts and feelings before and after diagnosis, prejudice, adaptation, how to recover after an episode, and the importance of loved ones - she founded the Facebook group "My Life With - Bipolar" 15 years ago.
