Description was written before the event

Before the construction of the artificial island Lynetteholm at the entrance to Copenhagen Harbour, archaeologists from the Viking Ship Museum examined four shipwrecks on the seabed. One of them is Svælget 2 - the world's largest known cog and the iconic medieval cargo ship.

The lecture focuses on what characterizes a cog, who used it, whether it carried cargo, and where it came from. It also explores the techniques used today in archaeological documentation and the work of reconstructing the vessel's original form - including why a scale model of a shipwreck is built.

Mads Kejlberg, director of SP DAVINCI, discusses how the company, which supplies custom-made advanced 3D solutions, helped the Viking Ship Museum reconstruct the cog's form - and what it all has to do with Billund.
