Create Your Own Unique Tufted Rug!

Tufted rug workshop for beginners: Tuesday 3 November 2026, 17:00–20:30, Butikken, Frederiksberg. Tickets cost 450 kr.

In this workshop, you'll create your own tufted rug from scratch. Tufting is an ancient craft - perhaps best known from rya rugs - and the technique involves drawing your design on stretched burlap in a frame, then tufting it with yarn and a tufting gun that creates loops on the back. No prior experience is needed. Age limit: minimum 12 years.

The workshop lasts three and a half hours and costs 450 kr. per person. The price includes instruction and the loan of a tufting gun and other equipment - but you must bring your own yarn and a small pair of scissors. Any yarn type can be used, as long as it's not thicker than needle size 4. A good beginner yarn is Drops baby merino, which is available cheaply in online knitting shops. Closer to the workshop, you'll receive more information about yarn and other details.

To get the most out of the time, it's a good idea to have thought about your design beforehand. Keep it simple - few details work best. Feel free to bring sketches or printouts, maximum 20 cm in diameter.
