The Savage Rose 60 Years

The Savage Rose 60 Years live: Tuesday 6 April 2027, 20:00, Sønderborg Teater, Sønderborg.

In 1967, five musicians and a singer met in a basement in Søborg and created music that broke with Denmark's stagnant culture and found its way to the rest of the world. Their debut album "The Savage Rose" came out in 1968 and helped define Danish rock as an independent art form.

Over the past 60 years, the band has defended its musical freedom and left its mark far beyond Denmark's borders - in Philippine slums and children's camps, Palestinian refugee camps, among imprisoned progressive musicians in Turkey, and in anti-apartheid and peace movements in the USA. Their music has created communities across generations.

The discography includes 26 albums, from major commercial successes to records released in small editions on alternative labels. Classics like "Dødens Triumf", Wild Child, and "Black Angel" have been followed by more recent releases: "Universal Daughter" (2007), "Love And Freedom" (2012), Roots Of The Wasteland (2014), and "Homeless" (2017) - all released after Thomas Koppel's sudden death in 2006.
