Concert with Reading - Einar Már Gudmundsson & Christian Risgaard

Icelandic author and poet Einar Már Gudmundsson reads from his poetry collection "To the Right Recipient", accompanied by Christian Risgaard with compositions written specifically for these poems. Gudmundsson is a multi-award-winning author who has received the Nordic Council's Literature Prize, among other honours.

Through poems, short stories and novels, he portrays the history of the Icelandic people over the past 100 years - with dreams, northern lights and rainy days in Reykjavik as recurring elements. He writes the history of Iceland's working class without falling into sentimental melancholy, and poetry and realism go hand in hand in works marked by persistent social engagement.

Risgaard has composed music for all 32 poems in the collection. The music creates space, scenography and atmosphere for the quirky, philosophical poems. The two met at an opening reception with Icelandic artists in Dybe, western Jutland in 2006, and their concert collaboration began in 2022.
