Description was written before the event

Unbound welcomes Hugh Miller, a graphic designer, art director and Partner at Pentagram in London since 2025. His practice is rooted in typography, music culture and the intersection of design and lived experience. He is co-founder of BOND's London office and has previously worked at the acclaimed studio SPIN on projects including the Whitechapel identity and campaigns for Nike and MTV. He has since been embedded in brand teams at Nokia and Microsoft, and most recently in Ford's research-driven Human-Centred Design innovation unit.

Hugh's work has been recognized by D&AD, the Type Directors Club and ISTD, whose highest award - the Freda Sack Award - he received for the album cover of SO/LO's At the End of the World, Plant a Tree. He currently sits on ISTD's board and is an engaged collector of historical graphic design artifacts. In 2025 he was named one of Creative Boom's '20 Most Inspiring Graphic Designers'.

The event consists of a talk followed by a workshop for 20 participants. The workshop, which Hugh has developed specifically for this occasion, explores tensions in typography and curiosity and poetry in letterforms. Participants work with analog materials and can expect hands-on experimentation.

Unbound - Graphic Design beyond borders is a non-profit event series run by Studio Obvious with the aim of putting graphic design in focus and strengthening the Danish graphic design community. The event is supported by The Royal Danish Academy, HK Grafisk Kommunikation and Make Space.
