The seminar is organized by Kulturstedet Lindegaarden in collaboration with Bygningskultur Foreningen for Lyngby-Taarbæk and Historisk-topografisk Selskab for Lyngby-Taarbæk Kommune. The day features expert presentations, discussion, lunch and a guided walk through Bondebyen.

Programme:

9.00-9.15: Coffee and welcome. Chairs: Birte Rørbæk (Bygningskultur Foreningen) and Dorete Dandanell (Historisk-topografisk Selskab).

9.15-9.45: Global cultural heritage
How do current global conflicts affect Danish museums, art institutions and cultural heritage? In modern armed conflicts, cultural heritage has become a strategic tool - the struggle is not only about territory, but also about control over identity, memory and representation. This is seen in Ukraine, Gaza, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon and Sudan, where cultural heritage is deliberately destroyed as a symbol of history and identity. At the same time, cultural heritage has become a battleground also outside war zones, where political interference and identity-political tensions challenge the role and scope of cultural institutions.
Presentation by Marie Berg Christensen, Postdoc, PhD, University of Copenhagen: "Museums in the crossfire: An investigation of international conflicts' influence on Danish museums".

9.45-10.15: National cultural heritage
Who looks after what we want to pass on? Danish architectural culture is in constant change - we renovate, extend and demolish, and in the process we make choices about which traces of our shared history should be preserved. The state takes care of listed buildings, while municipalities are responsible for the much larger group of buildings worth preserving. Using current examples, we examine where responsibility lies and where it risks falling between the cracks.
Presentation by Stefanie Høy Brink, head of secretariat at ByogLand Danmark.

10.15-10.45: Break with coffee and cake.

10.45-11.15: Local cultural heritage - villas and conservation local plans
