When People, Stories and Archives Become Art · Lokalhistorisk Bibliotek (i Historiens Hus), Odense

Stine Marie Jacobsen on participatory art and storytelling: Monday 19 October 2026, 11:00–12:00, Lokalhistorisk Bibliotek (i Historiens Hus), Odense. Admission is free.

Visual artist Stine Marie Jacobsen presents a lecture on her more than ten years of work with participatory and socially engaged art. She works with people, conversations and real situations as part of her artistic practice - with a particular interest in how we tell, remember and share experiences, and what happens when different forms of knowledge and stories meet.

Using her art project Direct Approach (2012-) as a starting point, she describes how she creates situations where people are invited to meet around difficult, personal or unresolved questions. In her art, conversation is not merely an exchange of information, but a space where relationships, conflicts, power dynamics and opposing perspectives can be explored - without the goal necessarily being a shared truth or a resolved conflict.

Stine Marie Jacobsen (b. 1977) is a conceptual artist who develops long-term, participation-oriented and educational art projects in collaboration with researchers, lawyers and political actors, among others.
