Bird-watching walk on Agerø's coastal meadows
This guided walk takes you out to the Holmene and Stenklipperne areas on Agerø's coastal meadows - across what will likely be very wet grassland. It is a demanding hike requiring long-shafted rubber boots, and weather and water levels may make it impossible to complete. In return, you may be lucky enough to see mountain pipits, high-Arctic waders, and perhaps a peregrine falcon.
The guides are a nature guide from the Danish Ornithological Society (Fugleværnsfonden) and Hans Dahlgaard (DOF). The Ornithological Society purchased 27 hectares at Agerø in 1982 to ensure the care and protection of the area. The meadows and shallow-water areas here are of great importance for waterfowl - and especially for the rare pale-bellied brent goose, which has one of its most important resting areas here when not breeding in northeast Greenland and Svalbard.
