Reading Circle: Martha Christensen

Reading Circle: Martha Christensen: 21 October – 18 November 2026, Hovedbiblioteket, Odense. Admission is free.

Martha Christensen was a social realist author who spent most of her life on Funen. She had a close connection to Odense, where she worked as a youth worker at the children's and youth centre Svanegården in the Skibhuskvarteret district - work that left a clear mark on her writing. She was known for depicting the lives of ordinary people and giving voice to those who had none.

In this reading circle, we read two of her novels and discuss how she portrays her characters' everyday lives close to reality.
