A personal lecture by Sabrina Villarreal

On March 30, 2025, Sabrina Villarreal suffered a stroke in her brainstem. She was 31 years old, in the middle of everyday life - children, work, packed lunches, laundry, and a husband she was supposed to grow old with. In a split second, life was divided into before and after. As she puts it: her body pressed Ctrl+Alt+Delete without asking and without offering Ctrl+Z afterwards.

The lecture explores what happens when you suffer a stroke as a young person. About invisible long-term effects, fear, identity, and the difficult task of learning to trust a body that changed the rules of the game without warning. The evening also touches on Stretch. Talk. Smile. - and on the fact that stroke doesn't always look the way we imagine. The evening is not a march of sorrow; there is room for humor, self-irony, and the absurd moments that arise when you try to find your footing in a life you didn't choose to have changed.

You don't need to have had a stroke to recognize something in the story. Maybe you also know the feeling of postponing life a little - I'll call tomorrow, I'll do it when things calm down. Sabrina thought so too, until she learned that life doesn't negotiate, and that a split second is not up for negotiation.

So maybe the lecture is about stroke. But maybe it's even more about discovering the value of the life already happening while we're busy waiting for something else.
