The Art Canon - Worth Defending or Questioning?

The Art Canon - defending or questioning: Thursday 5 November 2026, 19:00–21:00, Billund Bibliotek, Billund.

This lecture explores the Danish cultural canon for visual art - a curated list of 12 essential works selected by a panel of experts from the art world. What makes these particular works special, and should the list have looked different? And what is the purpose of a cultural canon, and do we still need one today?

The lecture is held by Birthe Svenstrup, art historian and cand.mag. Venue: M1.
