The Magic Wands of Pollination
Vallekilde-Hørve friskole, Hørve
Can you build a magic wand that helps a flower get pollinated? That's the starting point for this creative nature activity for children and their adults.
We begin with a walk in the area, collecting branches, seed heads, leaves, feathers and other natural materials. Along the way, we explore them: what is soft, rough, light, flexible - or good for picking things up with? Back at the shelter area, we use our finds to build magical pollination wands. As we build, we talk about pollination: who moves pollen in nature, why is it important, and how would we solve the task ourselves?
You don't need to know anything about pollination beforehand - curiosity is enough. Bring a packed lunch, drinking water and clothes suited to the weather. We are outdoors throughout the activity, and there is hot chocolate for the children and coffee for the adults.
