World Heritage Day // Roskilde Cathedral Roof

Roskilde Cathedral Roof tour: Thursday 22 October 2026, 14:00–15:30, Roskilde Domkirke, Roskilde. Admission is free.

On this free guided tour, you'll climb into Roskilde Cathedral's roof structure, built from 350 cubic metres of timber using methods and tools that have barely changed since the Middle Ages. You can feel the copper laid to strict quality standards and see details such as French locks and slanted hasp bolts, smell the Douglas fir, and find traces of the 1968 fire. Through the roof's windows there is a view over all of Roskilde. Before the roof tour there is an opportunity to sit on the bench beneath the high vaults of the Gothic brick cathedral.

The tour takes approximately 1.5 hours and is conducted in Danish. Meeting point is indoors at Kongeporten. Participants must be at least 13 years old and in good physical condition. Free entry - registration required via Billetto.dk.
