Digital Youth and Their Parents - lecture: Tuesday 17 November 2026, 17:00–19:00, Hovedbiblioteket i Aalborg, Aalborg. Admission is free.
Technology plays a major role in children and young people's lives - both at school and in their free time. Attitudes about it are equally important, and "those damned screens" remain an ever-present conversation topic.
TikTok, Snapchat, Discord and various gaming worlds are natural parts of young people's communities and communication. But they also contain algorithmic engagement, artificial friendships, conflicts, negative networks and harassment - things we as adults need to understand and address.
The lecture "Digital Youth and Their Parents" offers insight into young people's digital lives. How do you become a supportive digital adult? Are we good role models ourselves, and what is our responsibility? And what do young people actually say about the way their parents handle the digital world? The speaker draws on 20 years of practical experience with children, young people and parents, as well as relevant tools and research.
The lecture lasts approximately 90 minutes and includes exercises and an opportunity for questions. It is held by Victor Döpping from the Center for Digital Pedagogy in the room Glashjørnet.
