Poetry Slam KBH Championship Qualifier Round 3

Fri, 6 Nov 2026 · Valby Kulturhus, Copenhagen →

Description was written before the event

The KBH Poetry Slam Championship 2026-2027 returns to Valby Kulturhus for qualification round 2 of 3. Poetry slam is a spoken-word competition featuring poems, poetic texts, stories, and literary hybrids - judged on wit, nerve, and thought-provoking content.

Three qualification rounds take place in September, October, and November 2026, with the final in January 2027 to crown the new KBH poetry slam champion. Hosts are former slam champion Peter Dyreborg and co-host Rasmus Rhode. The featured artist is Malin Gustavsson, Swedish poetry slam champion 2022, member of the slam collective Ord paa Scen in Malmö, and PhD student in Scandinavian languages at Lund University. Tonight's competing slammers are Vilhelm Rostgaard Grell, Mia Larsen, Cathrine Honoré, Hiwa Bahrouz van Schayk, Michael Dyst, Camilla Neubert, Lærke Guldagger Falk, Liva Beltoft Carlsen, Pheodora Dyhr, and Jonas Al Rubaii.

The show runs from 20:00 to approximately 22:30 including a break; doors open about 30 minutes before start. Bastard Café in Valby Kulturhus opens earlier and offers a good selection at reasonable prices.

Buy tickets in advance - it's cheaper, and students get a discount. Ticket link: https://www.place2book.com/da/sw2/sales/event_list/EM7584

Trigger warning: poetry slam can be entertaining and fun, but also serious and emotionally charged. Performers sometimes address sensitive topics that may evoke strong feelings or feel boundary-crossing. The audience is encouraged to approach the show with an open mind, but is also welcome to be moved. If a topic feels too close, you may choose not to listen or step out of the room for a moment - preferably discreetly so as not to disturb others. Also be aware that the sound level may be overwhelming for some.

About the venue: Valby Kulturhus

It houses a theatre hall, ceramics workshop, atelier, makerspace and Spillaboratoriet - a hub for roleplaying, board games and cosplay. The children's section Børnekulturstedet on the second floor offers dance, theatre and open playgroups, while Bastard Café has moved in with over 1,000 board games. The venue also serves as a platform for cultural creators testing new projects.
