Emergency Preparedness Day at Fredensborg Library
Fredensborg Bibliotek, Fredensborg · Free
Emergency Preparedness Day - community and hands-on: Saturday 24 October 2026, 10:00–16:00, Fredensborg Bibliotek, Fredensborg. Admission is free.
Emergency Preparedness Day is part of DR's major autumn 2026 theme on emergency preparedness. The aim is to make a complex topic concrete and tangible, so we understand what we can do if a crisis strikes. The library's role is to create a local forum for conversation - a place where preparedness is not just about emergency rations and iodine tablets, but also about the mental, social and cultural: how we understand crises, talk about them and handle them together.
Emergency preparedness is ultimately about us - about knowing our neighbours, knowing who to call, and daring to take care of ourselves and each other when the unexpected happens.
The day begins with community singing led by Mathias Hammer. Afterwards, you can hear lectures and conversations, including with Rasmus Dahlberg, about how we as individuals and communities can stand stronger together. There are hands-on activities where you can practise concrete skills - from first aid to managing for three days during a crisis. Children can participate in activities including with Heino from "Heino fikser alt", who in a safe and playful way gives the youngest an understanding of preparedness. You can also meet local associations and volunteers who make a difference every day, plus a range of other activities.
The best preparedness starts long before a crisis hits - with curiosity, knowledge and a strong community. You are welcome to spend the day with others, whether you come alone, with your family or a neighbour.
Emergency Preparedness Day is organised by DR in collaboration with the non-profit association Østifterne, Dansk Folkeoplysnings Samråd and Centralbibliotekernes Temasamarbejde. Registration for Emergency Preparedness Day starts next week.
