When Everything Goes Dark
When Everything Goes Dark - talk with DR participants: Wednesday 21 October 2026, 17:00–18:30, Kolding Bibliotek, Kolding.
What happens when electricity, water, heating, and internet disappear without warning, and everyday life must suddenly function under completely new conditions?
This is the premise of the DR programme "When Everything Goes Dark", which premiered on 21 October. Ten Danes move into five apartments next to each other, knowing only that they are participating in a TV experiment - not what it involves. After a few hours, the power goes out and doesn't return for three days. With it disappear lights, running water, internet, refrigerator, stove, and a functioning toilet, while the remaining resources are both scarce and unevenly distributed among the participants.
At this talk, participants from the programme share what it was like to be in the middle of it: their reaction when the reality sank in, the hardest part of the situation, and the role community played. They also discuss what the experiment taught them about their own and others' preparedness, and more broadly what happens to us when familiar structures collapse, resources become scarce, and we must rely on those around us.
Venue: Torvet.
