How do we respond when everyday life is turned upside down, and what actually helps us through uncertain times? On preparedness day, we explore what shared reading can mean when we face change, crisis and challenges.

The reading guide reads a short story and a poem aloud, and along the way we share the thoughts and feelings the texts evoke. It's not about finding the right answers, but about being curious together - there is room for reflection, conversation and multiple perspectives. You don't need to prepare: just show up and participate in the way that suits you.

On a day otherwise focused on preparedness, we make space for the human side of being prepared - community, conversation and the ability to understand ourselves and each other.
