Medieval Christmas Drinking in the Middle Ages, Friday 27 November, 17:30-21:30.
In the Middle Ages, people drank heavily when celebrating Christmas and other holidays. Those who could afford it slaughtered the Christmas pig and indulged in expensive spices. This Christmas edition of "Drinking in Danish History" is more than a beer tasting with a lecture - it is also a meal that takes guests on a journey back to the origins of today's Christmas dishes.
The lecture lasts approximately 75 minutes and features tastings of 8-10 different medieval drinks. Afterwards, a medieval banquet awaits with knightly Christmas atmosphere, where you can experience the ropemaker's herring dish, Knight Svane's pork shank in Christmas marinade, and rice pudding with medieval cherry sauce. Along the way, there is also an opportunity to buy beer and water.
The ticket costs 599 kr. and also gives access to Middelaldercentret's Christmas market on 28-29 November. Members of the beer club receive a 20% discount. As an add-on, you can get unlimited draft beer during dinner for 199 kr.
