When My Great-Grandfather Changed the Course of History

When My Great-Grandfather Changed History: 29 October – 28 October 2026, 4. Langå Bibliotek, Langå. Admission is free.
In April 1940, Norwegian Otto Ruge was appointed commander-in-chief of Norwegian forces just as Germany invaded the country, triggering two months of brutal warfare. Ruge was the great-grandfather of lecturer Mik Stegger, who in this personal talk tells the story of a man forced into impossible choices during one of Norway's most fateful periods - a man now forgotten in the south and hated in the north.
The lecture blends dramatic war history with a personal family narrative, offering a different perspective on the occupation, this time seen from our northern neighbour.
The event is free but requires advance booking. Questions can be directed to Mik Stegger at mk@randersbib.dk.
The lecture is part of the theme day "Together on Preparedness", organised by the library in collaboration with DR, Dansk Folkeoplysnings Samråd, and Østifterne. Throughout the day, the library offers lectures, activities, and discussions on preparedness. It takes place at Kulturhuset Langå, Byrådssalen.
