Islands in Books: The World's Best Island Novels
Wed, 11 Nov 2026 · 15:30 — 17:00
Auning Bibliotek, Auning · 30 kr. · ≈ 4 €
Thomas from Auning Library takes us on a literary island journey from "Robinson Crusoe" to "Rans vilje". Along the way we visit Anholt, the Faroe Islands, Barrøy and a small island whose name nobody knows, but where treasure lies buried.
As Lars Erik Andersen wrote in Kristeligt Dagblad (28.10.10): "When an author chooses the island as the setting for their novel's action, it is not because the described conflicts do not exist on the mainland, but because the island in our consciousness comes to form a microcosm, where the world and existence can be depicted as in a mirror."
