What can great literature teach us about ourselves, our past and present?
"Fox Years" takes place on Læsø at the end of the 18th century. While the men are at sea, the women keep the island's life going - and the novel revolves around being an outsider and not belonging. Women's lives are depicted in detail: birth, death in childbirth, unwanted pregnancies and abuse.
Speaker Vita Andreasen was born in Grenaa and grew up on Djursland, but has had a connection to Læsø for many years. She has worked as a hospital chaplain and parish priest and was for a long time principal of Løgumkloster Folk High School.
