World Heritage Day: A World Heritage Centre on the Way

World Heritage Day lecture and tour: Thursday 22 October 2026, 16:30–17:30, Roskilde Museum, Roskilde. Admission is free.

On World Heritage Day, the director of ROMU Morten Thomsen Højsgaard, project manager Lena Bruun Jensen, and chair of the Roskilde Cathedral World Heritage Committee Jesper Kejlhof will present an update on the work with the Roskilde Cathedral World Heritage Centre. The new visitor centre for the world heritage site Roskilde Cathedral is scheduled to open in 2028, and the team is actively developing the centre's future offerings for guests from around the world.

The event begins with a lecture in the lecture hall at Roskilde Museum and concludes with a guided tour around and through parts of the Royal Palace.

This is a rare opportunity to gain insight into how Roskilde Cathedral's 1,000-year history is being transformed into stories for a broad audience.
