Shared Reading at Valby Library: 19 October – 14 December 2026, Valby Bibliotek, Copenhagen. Admission is free.

Shared reading with recitation, conversation and coffee. Reading guide Bente Kristiansen selects the texts - short stories, poems or novel excerpts - reads them aloud and invites discussion about what has just been heard.

The event is open to everyone and you simply drop in. The reading guides have completed the Reading Association's course in guided shared reading and volunteer because they love literature and its ability to bring people together in conversation.

About the venue: Valby Bibliotek

Valby Library occupies the oldest building in the district - a cavalry school from 1722 that has been extended several times since. It sits close to Valby Station, opposite Spinderiet, and houses a children's library with play areas, a study zone, a comic collection and a newspaper reading room. The library also runs author evenings, children's theatre, reading clubs and exhibitions. A colourful mural by local artist Gunnar Wille decorates the gable. A new library is being built on Hanne Varmings Plads and is expected to open in early 2028.
