Jesper Wung-Sung reads from his novel Sandøs rose, which takes its starting point in Martin A. Hansen's classic The Liar from 1950 - one of the most widely read Danish novels and a fixture on lists of the best books of the last century.

Where The Liar tells the story through the schoolteacher Johannes Vig, Sandøs rose shifts perspective to the woman he is in love with: Annemari. She grew up on Sandø, where her appearance, temperament and way of life are a favorite topic of conversation. Three men fill her existence - Oluf, with whom she has a child, the engineer Harry, with whom she has flirted through the winter, and Johannes, who has courted her since the day he arrived as a young schoolteacher. The same March evenings on the island, now seen through Annemari's eyes.

The action unfolds in the days when the ice releases its grip on the island - and Annemari seeks to free herself from the bonds that hold her fast.
