Bach's Musical Testament: A Drama of Faith and Reason · Garnisonskirken, Copenhagen

Bach's Musical Testament - drama of faith and reason: Tuesday 24 November 2026, 19:30, Garnisonskirken, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 200 kr./stud. 150 kr.

The Musical Offering is one of J.S. Bach's final works and can be regarded as the old master's musical testament. In this work, he unfolds polyphonic composition technique in a final, sovereign manifestation of the Baroque's rule-based and Christian-founded worldview.

At the same time, the work stands as a response to the Enlightenment's new music - Rococo and Classicism - with their more individualistic and subjective approach to music.
