Crime writer Katrine Engberg made her debut in 2016 with The Crocodile Keeper and has since built two successful series: five books featuring the duo Kørner and Werner, and a trilogy centred on private detective Liv Jensen. Her books are sold in more than 30 countries and have topped bestseller lists in the USA, Germany, and Scandinavia.

In October, she comes to Ringsted Library to present The Tooth Fairy - a standalone novel outside her known series. The book took shape based on a rumour Engberg herself encountered, and deals with violence, abuse of power, and the silence that keeps secrets alive. The story follows retired sound technician Birger, who invites his regular "Wednesday friend", sex worker Paulina, on a real date - but she never shows up. Together with Instagram therapist Marie, he begins searching for her. The investigation leads them to a summer house in North Zealand, where Paulina was working the evening she disappeared - a house belonging to well-known actor Anton Kehlet, who that same evening held a dinner party for four influential friends.

Beyond the novel, Katrine Engberg talks about her journey from a career as a choreographer and director to life as a crime writer, and how a book comes into being from the first idea to the finished manuscript.
