Concert with Prinsens Musikkorps — Hovedbiblioteket, Skive
Description was written before the event

Author and lecturer Henrik Engelbrecht takes the audience through the history of Prinsens Musikkorps during the German occupation, while singer Amalie Dollerup provides the musical part of the evening.

The story begins with drastic cuts in 1932 that shut down most Danish military music. When the 3rd Regiment's Music Corps - today known as Prinsens Musikkorps - was revived in 1940, it happened in the midst of an occupation. The narrative follows the corps from Randers to Nyborg, everyday life with wartime rationing, and the fateful 29 August 1943, when German forces attacked the barracks in Nyborg.

The musical programme covers the period 1930-1945 and includes everything from march music to jazz-influenced pieces from the same era, sung by Amalie Dollerup. A special detail is the original cavalry timpani that the corps plays - instruments that were hidden from the occupying forces and come from the regiment's war booty after the cavalry battle at Aarhus in 1849.

The concert opens with a glass of champagne. Seating is limited.
